I had set up automatic payments to Verizon that I neglected to cancel when I made the switch to AT&T.Â When I called to ask for a refund, they told me that it would take up to four billing cycles to process the refund.Â Ridiculous! I told them.Â I’m expected to pay my bills in 25 days lest I face huge penalties, but there is absolutely no incentive for them to treat me at least as well as they expect me to treat them.Â As I hung up, they had the audacity to ask if there was anything else they could do for me.
“Yeah, get me my refund immediately.”
If there was ever any hope of winning me back, they sealed my fate with a single, profound phone call and a policy that treats customers as liabilities rather than assets.
